Easy But True....

A truly fascinating article in The New Yorker about Gunter Grass, Germany's Nobel Laureate and unofficial moral conscience, who recently admitted he served in the Waffen SS at the end of World War II.

The sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff during WW II was referenced in the Grass article. I did some follow-up research and found that 9,000 people died on this cruise ship when it was torpedoed by the Red Army at the end of the war. Here is a memorial website.
